Field TrialsDairy FarmersLidcombe, New South Wales March 1998Dairy Farmers had been experiencing problems with a two cream silo's in their processing plant at Lidcombe, the problems were:
The system was flushed using a mechanical flushing machine, the old oil was sampled and found to contain high acid levels, after flushing a deep vacuum was pulled on the system for 24 hours, the unit was re-filled with ERG 1000 and then re-charged with clean refrigerant. At the time of the oil change the ambient temperature was well over 38° C - and with the heat reflecting off the roof - the air in the region of the condenser was over 45° C. The unit was turned over, without starting to ensure all moving parts were lubricated, the system was then run up. To this date (29-Mar-00) not only has the units never missed a beat but they have improved their cool down times by 12.5% (average) - which has meant reduced production and product loss.
